Camp Out for a Cause

Description of Event: Lakewood Ranch High School Key Club and Taking Back Lives are joining forces once again to raise money and tangible donations for nonprofit organizations in need within Manatee and Sarasota. Area students and families are invited to participate in an overnight camp-out on February 26—27th at Lakewood Ranch High School. The night’s festivities will include concerts, movies, glow-in-the-dark volleyball, and many other fun activities. Various charities will be collecting items and spreading awareness regarding their causes along with Taking Back Lives.

Walkathon 2009
Date: November 14th, 2009
Time: 8am-12pm

Description of Volunteer Work: Assigned by Staff at event
Description of Event: This year’s walkathon is challenging youth in the surrounding communities to take a step forward to ensure better futures for the children of Malawi. Through participation, students will receive a Taking Back Lives walkathon shirt, prizes, free giveaways, community service hours, and most importantly, play a vital role in the building of a classroom for Malawian students. With a goal of $40,000, Taking Back Lives plans to begin construction of a double classroom block by the summer of 2010, with all the money raised during the walkathon going directly towards this project.

Pro Tennis Exhibition

Sarasota Tennis Open

Description of Event: Taking Back Lives is once again honored to be one of the represented charities at this professional men’s tennis tournament in mid-May, 2010. Held at the beautiful Longboat Key Club, come enjoy incredible matches played by some of the best names in tennis today.
