Building a Team

Multiply the fun by forming a team!  Teams are a great way to maximize fundraising efforts while sharing a great experience with friends.

Not only will individual participants have the opportunity to qualifying for prizes based on fundraising achievement, but trophies will also be awarded to top teams in a variety of categories.  (See the Prize Structure section for more details on eligibility.)

Tips for Success

  • Pick a Team Name—select a name that characterizes your group, or identifies you in a unique and memorable way.
  • Set Your Goals—decide approximately how many people you’d like on the team.  (A minimum of 4 people is required to be considered a team.)  Remember that the goal is to raise as much money as possible, not the team with the most people.
  • Ask People to Join—invite people to join by filling them in on the details of the walkathon, explaining the cause and the goal of the event.  Provide them with information regarding the registration process and direct them to the walkathon website to set-up their personalized pages.
  • Stay in Touch—keep in contact with your team members, encouraging them with their individual fundraising goals.  Remind them to bring any collected donations to the walkathon to turn in, and make sure they know the time and location of the event.
  • Distinguish Your Group—make signs or banners or wear something that distinguishes your group as a team for the walkathon.
  • Thank Your Group—after the event is over, make sure to thank each group member for his/her participation and set your sights on the 2010 walkathon!!!!
